Sustainability at Uzin Utz
After a tour of the plant and a visit to the emission-free, driverless electric shuttles in the plant traffic, Philipp Utz took the opportunity to explain to Minister Untersteller that construction chemistry and sustainability are not contradictory, but can be reconciled.
The company has a wide range of sustainable activities to report. The Uzin Utz Group, which manufactures and sells seven brands of products worldwide for the new installation, renovation and maintenance of value of all types of floor coverings, has always been committed to sustainable entrepreneurship. The holistic consideration of the product life cycle, from raw materials to the disposal of the products is firmly anchored in the corporate philosophy. For example, in addition to electricity from renewable resources, more sustainable packaging is also used. More than 95% of the products have been awarded the EMICODE seal as "very low emission", almost 40% also carry the Blue Angel. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) have been prepared for a number of products. Strategic initiatives for the further development of resource-conserving products, but also for climate-optimized processes along the entire value-added chain, are intended to constantly improve the ecological footprint of the Uzin Utz Group - for example, through the use of alternative raw materials or the optimization of freight routes. The company-wide goal is to reduce climate-damaging emissions by 25 % by 2025.
Untersteller commended Uzin Utz's innovative spirit as exemplary. The minister was impressed by the large number of all sustainable activities. "We are breaking new ground in the strategic development of our sustainable commitment," said Philipp Utz. But already today we know that our approaches will lead to further improvements along the entire value chain. And our employees and customers will benefit most of all from this.
