Profitable first half-year - Uzin Utz remains on course in a difficult environment
- Double-digit sales growth in the 1st half-year
- 1st half-year: consolidated result of 21.5 million euros
- 1st half-year: EBIT margin of 8.7 %
In an environment of high volatility, Uzin Utz successfully stayed on course in the first half of 2022. With flexibility and expertise, the company met challenges such as ongoing disruptions in the supply chains as well as supply bottlenecks for raw materials and for certain pre-products. As a result, Group sales grew by 11.2% year-on-year to €246.5 million (H1 2021: €221.7 million). At €21.5 million, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for the half-year were 26.0% below the previous year's level (half-year 2021: €29.0 million).
During the first half of 2022, the stock exchange listed public limited company Uzin Utz increased its sales by 11.2 % to €246.5 million (H1 2021: €221.7 million) with the products of the brands Uzin, Wolff, Pallmann, Arturo, Codex, RZ and Pajarito. The increase in total revenue is due to both an increase in sales volume and price increases. The earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of Uzin Utz amounted to €21.5 million (H1 2021: €29.0 million). It was primarily impacted by sharply rising material and energy costs as well as higher freight and logistics costs.
"The availability of raw materials has not improved. The Uzin Utz Group is doing very respectably despite the worsening global and economic situation. For example, the EBIT margin rose from 7.3 % in the first quarter to 8.7 % at the half-year point," says Uzin Utz CFO Heinz Leibundgut.
Challenging environment also expected in the second half of the year | Uzin Utz continues to invest
"Our companies in Germany and abroad are coping with the complex challenges in the difficult overall economic situation on a daily basis," says Heinz Leibundgut. "In particular, the increases in material and energy prices, some of which are quite extreme, are having a noticeable effect", Leibundgut continues.
The result continues to be impacted by the significant price increases, mainly in the procurement markets. In particular, the increased energy and transport costs as well as continuing uncertainties in the supply chains are also increasing the negative effect on the result. Against this background, a reliable outlook for the 2022 financial year on the part of Uzin Utz is not possible at the present time.
Despite the challenging situation, Uzin Utz is sticking to its planned investments. New production sites and site expansions are currently being built in Waco (USA), Haaksbergen (Netherlands) and Germany.
