UZIN UTZ invests in the future and builds second production facility

On June 3, the official groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new production facility of UZIN UTZ North America Inc. A state-of-the-art dry mortar plant is being built on an area of 61,000 m² in Waco, Texas. High-ranking representatives of the city of Waco and the state of Texas, as well as the company's management and employees, attended the ceremony. With the new production plant, UZIN UTZ is investing in the future and is clearly committed to the USA as a location.

"We are a people-oriented company and people really made the difference in this complex process that we chose the city of Waco, Texas," emphasized Matthias Liebert, CEO of UZIN UTZ North America Inc. "The community's participation in our symbolic groundbreaking is further confirmation that we made the right decision. We look forward to beginning the construction process and further strengthening our ties with the Waco and McLennan County community." At the same time, Liebert expressed regret that UZIN UTZ board members were unable to attend the ceremony due to pandemic conditions. Congratulations from the board for their U.S. colleagues were delivered via video message.

The 61,000-square-meter facility will manufacture powder products in the future. In addition to the production capacity, this will also be the site of the new UZIN UTZ North America training center for all brands and the central location for research and development in the USA. With an investment of more than $34 million, the new production facility will create approximately 40 new jobs in the region. The facility is expected to be operational by mid-2022.

Waco will be the third site in North America for UZIN UTZ North America Inc. Current locations include a manufacturing facility in Dover, Delaware, and a distribution facility in Aurora, Colorado. The expansion also complements the UZIN UTZ Group's extensive global manufacturing presence with production facilities in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Switzerland, Slovenia, Indonesia and China."
